The jacket demonstrates the small stature of the great man

The piece headlined Mossgreen Auctions' September 7 sporting memorabilia sale in Melbourne.

Bradman wore the jacket during the series against England in 1936-1937.

The auction house comments: "The blazer illustrates just how small (170cm) and slight (65kg) Bradman was.

"Bradman was appointed captain of Australia for the 1936-37 Ashes series, a position he held until his retirement in 1948…

"This is the first time the blazer has been offered by public auction."

A bat wielded by Bradman in the final test match of the 1930 Ashes made $18,625.

Mossgreen explains: "As with two other match-used bats sighted, Bradman had these 'best' bats signed by both teams during the final Test, obliterating the various signatures and goodwill notation inscribed to both sides, and mostly faded.

It was "thus part of Bradman's record 1000 runs in May, most runs and Test run records of his greatest series."

The record for a Bradman bat stands at $100,778 - set for his first Test bat in 2008.
