'All Things Bright and Burgundy' will light up Acker's fine wine auction, next week

Acker's planned fine wine auction of September 10th auction at Marea will feature a bountiful selection of some of Burgundy's finest.

The company has cast its spotlight on three special collections - all of impeccable provenance and condition.

Fresh out of the custom built, temperature controlled cellar of a generous gentleman dubbed Heavy Giver, lots 172 through 201 feature some of the rarest and most highly coveted Burgundies in the world.

Six vintages of La Tache grace this incredible collection, featuring magnums of 1990 La Tache (lot 183, $16,000-22,000) and Richebourg (lot 190, $8,000-11,000), a rare Methuselah of 2004 (lot 188, $10,000-14,000) and three bottles of 2003 Romanee Conti to round it out (lot 192, $22,000-20,000).

A legendary DRC white brings this stunning offering to a close, boasting a magnum of 1997 Montrachet in perfect condition (lot 197, $5000-7000).

Fort Burgundy Blanc is a rock solid collection recently removed from a concrete-walled, 10,000 bottle cellar in the Rocky Mountains with a natural temperature of 50-55 degrees and a humidity of over 60%.

As its name implies, this consignment focuses on White Burgundy starting with a selection of top vineyards from Meursault.

Then there is a myriad of Montrachet on display here with Domaine de la Romanee Conti (lots 217-219), rare Lafon (lots 212-216) and even rare Leflaive (lots 220-227).

Top lots include a bottle of 1979 Ramonet Montrachet (lot 231 $2000-3000), a bottle of 1996 DRC Montrachet (lot 218 $5000-7000), and five bottles of 2002 Lafon Montrachet (lot 214 $6000-8000).

The wonderfully titled All Things Bright And Burgundy is a delightful collection of Burgundy old and new with impeccable provenance including a case of 1999 DRC Richebourg (lot 405 $20,000-28,000), legendary 1978 Beze Clair Dau (lot 397 $2600-3500), and three bottles of 1979 Henri Jayer Echezeaux (lot 408 $8000-11000).

Collectors distraught that they cannot attend the New York auction in person will be reassured to learn that live internet bidding is available.
