A selection of 16 bottles from the world's oldest collection of rum realised £135,713 ($212,203) in a sale at Christie's on December 11 - a new world record for the spirit at auction.

The rum was discovered in the cellar of Harewood House, a stately home in Yorkshire, in 2013. It was manufactured in Barbados, before being shipped and bottled in the UK.
This latest sale supersedes the record set last year, when 12 bottles from the Harewood collection sold for a combined £78,255 ($122,361).
This latest sale resulted in an average figure of £8,482 ($13,358) per bottle, an increase of 30.1% on last year's average of £6,521 ($10,196).
