1960s Aspen magazine collection sells for $4,200 in San Francsico

The auction took place in San Francisco on April 10.

Aspen magazine ran throughout the mid to late 1960s

Each issue consists of a box containing a variety of different materials, ranging from booklets and postcards to film reels and records.

Contributors included writers, artists and musicians including Andy Warhol, John Cage and William S Burroughs.

A letter included in the first edition set out the publication's manifesto: "In calling it a 'magazine,' we are harking back to the original meaning of the word as 'a storehouse, a cache, a ship laden with stores."
