A rare and historically significant 1930 OM 665 SS MM Superba, designed to race in the Mille Miglia, is heading to Bonhams' Goodwood Revival auction on September 13, 2014.

The auction will showcase the finest in classic motoring, following on the heels of Bonhams' Goodwood Festival of Speed sale last month.
OM, which stands for Officine Meccaniche, is one of the lesser known Italian marques, yet is renowned among enthusiasts for producing some of the finest competition cars of the 1920s and 1930s.
The 1927 Mille Miglia saw an astonishing 1-2-3 finish for the company, with many more podium wins throughout the early history of motor racing.
The current model was retired in the UK shortly after its racing career, and was only rediscovered by collectors in the 1960, who have since meticulously documented it history.
Adding tons of appeal for race enthusiasts is the car's eligibility for the current Mille Miglia, with Bonhams' James Knight commenting, "This hallowed status enables its next custodian to relive successes of the likes of Bassi and Gazzabini on the arduous 1,000 mile course as well as numerous other events.
"Initial thoughts are that the OM should realize a high six-figure sum. It has been sympathetically restored and comes with one of the most comprehensive history files we have seen, having passed through a handful of noted collectors all the while being actively campaigned as it had in period."
