The official state car of former Argentine first lady and activist Eva Peron will be offered at Silverstone Auctions on September 4, as part of the Salon Prive event in London.

Eva Peron State Car
Eva Peron is a big force in collecting, both a popular culture icon and beloved politicial figure

The car has been on loan at the Eva Peron Museum (Museo Evita) in Buenos Aires for some years, but is now expected to sell for £200,000-260,000 ($340,252-442,328).

Eva Peron (1919-1952) has become an icon of popular culture, due to the musical of her life by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Evita. Argentineans fondly remember her for her advocacy of labour and women's rights.

More than three million people turned out in Buenos Aires for her funeral when she died of cancer, aged just 33. Peron was running for vice president of Argentina at the time.

The Cadillac was used as the official state car during the presidency of her husband, Colonel Juan Peron, and there are many images of the couple riding in it.

Also included in the lot is a jewel from one of Peron's dresses that was found in the car.

At Christie's in October 2013, a magnificent brooch of the Argentinean flag worn by Peron sold for an impressive $461,000, proving her enduring appeal among collectors.
