1967 Shelby 427 Cobra to lead Sam Pack sale in Texas

A 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra is valued at $1m-1.4m ahead of RM Auctions' sale of the Sam Pack collection at the Pack Automotive Museum in Texas on November 15.

The car, described by the auction house as "the ultimate road going Cobra", is fitted with a powerful Ford 427 engine - enabling it to go from 0-100mph in just 13.2 seconds.

Shelby Cobra 427
The Shelby Cobra 427 is one of the most iconic sports cars of its era

It's one of only 260 examples produced in 1966 and displays just 12,000 miles on the clock.

Models by Shelby are in high demand and regularly achieve strong results at auction. In 2007, company founder Carroll Shelby's personal Cobra 427 Super Snake sold for $5.5m - a record for a US-made car.

A 1931 Chrysler CG Imperial Roadster by LeBaron is another highlight, with a valuation of $300,000-375,000.

Just 100 models were built at the outset of the Depression and only 12 or so are known to exist. The lot displays the classic sweeping lines of the era and was used by Shell Oil in a number of adverts during the 1970s.

It has been extensively renovated over the years and was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2002.
