This civil war confederate officer inscribed 1851 navy revolver made $4,750

A rare inscription made the antique revolver stand out from the crowd. The brass tang at the back of the revolver's grip was inscribed: "F.H. LITTLE 11TH GA. V.I."

Attributed to Francis H Little, a major with the 11th Regiment of the Georgia Volunteer Infantry from July 1862 to November 1862 (at which point he was promoted to colonel), the historic revolver links past with present, reminding us of the sacrifices young men made.

Items relating to the American civil war remain incredibly popular: a fascinating collection of artefacts which once belonged to combatant Isaac Plumb sold for $46,000 in October 2012 - a 206.6% increase on the lot's $15,000 estimate.

A world war two Colt 1911A1 pistol also sold with strong results, bringing $3,000.

Manufactured in 1941, the Colt pistol remains a firm favourite among militaria collectors.

We have a number of highly collectible (and highly covetable) items dating from world war two currently residing in our inventory, including this rare Guy Gibson autograph - a must see for military history enthusiasts.
