A lock of hair Marilyn Monroe gave to a fan in the 1960s has sold for $35,200.
It was one of the lead lots of the Icons & Idols sale at Julien's Auctions in LA on September 23.

The lock was consigned from the collection of Frieda Hull, a member of the Monroe Six.
The Six were a group of superfans who would regularly spend all night outside the star's hotel and travel to events where they knew she would be.
Marilyn actually came to know them all personally and would regularly give them gifts and chat to them.
On one occasion she even invited them to a picnic at her home.

A brown leather bomber jacket Steve Jobs wore in 1983, shortly before the release of the first Apple Mac, made $22,500.
It appears in a famous photo of Jobs "flipping off" the IBM sign.
Andy Hetzfield, one of Apple's original developers, explained: "In December 1983, a few weeks before the Mac launch, we made a quick trip to New York City to meet with Newsweek , who was considering doing a cover story on the Mac.
"The photo was taken spontaneously as we walked around Manhattan by Jean Pigozzi, a wild French jet setter who was hanging out with us at the time."
Bizarrely, Truman Capote's ashes also starred in the sale.
