Bonhams' fine European Furniture and Decorative Arts auction is to star several pieces from the Warner Bros Studios collection, as well as items once belonging to American television host Merv Griffin, and US news magnate William Randolph Hearst.

A vast array of furniture, including clocks, tapestries, chess sets, globes, glassware, music boxes and valuable decorative items, is to cross the auction block in Los Angeles come June 10.
Highlights include two pairs of George VI giltwood armchairs boasting cabriole legs ending in dolphin heads, which have been given respective estimates of $12,000-18,000, and a beautiful mahogany grand piano valued at $80,000-120,000.
A late 18th century, Irish-made satinwood table, is expected to make $3,000-5,000.
Ceramics are also to feature in the sale, with works by eminent manufactories Meissen, Sevres and Berlin KPM leading the charge.

Antique furniture and decorative arts remain popular buys at auction. May 5 saw a beautifully realised Chippendale piecrust table bring $12,870 to Kaminski Auctions, while a lavish Victorian revival walnut cabinet sold for $8,435.
